Welcome to the Product Development & Execution Jargon Guide — a dedicated resource for Product Managers to decode essential terms, processes, and frameworks used in building and launching products. From sprint planning and MVPs to release cycles and delivery metrics, this guide simplifies the language of execution so you can lead with clarity, streamline collaboration, and ship with confidence.
Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
The simplest version of a product that delivers enough value to attract early adopters and validate a concept.
Goal: Learn quickly with minimal effort and investment.
Sprint
A short, time-boxed period (typically 1–2 weeks) during which a cross-functional team works to complete a specific set of tasks.
Example: A sprint may focus on completing a feature or fixing a group of related bugs.
Technical Debt
The cost of choosing an easy or quick solution now instead of a better, often more time-consuming, approach.
Impact: Can slow future development if not addressed.
Release Candidate (RC)
A version of a product that is nearly ready for launch, pending final testing and approval.
Sign: All major features are complete, and only minor fixes remain.
